Our Products
Where are your products made?
All our bags and pouches are proudly made and hand silk screened local to us in Brooklyn, NY. We source USA made cotton for these items. We keep all our manufacturing in the USA with the exception of our mugs which are made abroad and printed in the USA.
How do I buy a Maptote product?
You can buy direct from us here on our website – www.maptote.com - or contact us at info@maptote.com for a store near you.
Does Maptote have its own brick-and-mortar store?
Maptote does not have a brick-and-mortar store at this time, but we have wonderful stores around the globe carrying Maptote’s products that you can visit. Our studio is located in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn. If you're nearby and want to pick up an order directly from us please reach out to info@maptote.com to set this up.
What if the item(s) I want to order is out of stock?
While we do our best to keep all items on our website in stock, there may be instances when an item you order may not be available. If an item that you would like is out of stock you can click the "Notify when back in stock" option and you will receive an email when the item is back in stock.
How do I care for my bag?
As our bags are 100% cotton, some shrinkage may occur once washed. We recommend cold wash and line dry for all our cotton items.
Can I submit product or location suggestions?
We love receiving product and location suggestions! Please send them to hello@maptote.com.
Shipping
Do you offer free shipping?
Free shipping is available on domestic orders over $50 and is applied automatically at checkout. The shipping carrier will be determined based on the ship to address and order size. Expect to receive free shipping orders within 5-7 business days of your order. This excludes international, custom, bulk or wholesale orders. Free shipping does not apply to orders using promo codes.
Can I combine promo codes and free shipping offers?
As a small business, we are unable to offer free shipping in addition to a promo code discount.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do ship internationally via USPS Priority Mail. Orders sent via USPS Priority shipping arrive in about 15 business days. However delays can occur in transit or holds at the local customs office, so it's possible to take up to 5 weeks for an order to be delivered. Unfortunately, tracking information isn't available for all international orders.
Customs and additional fees may apply for international shipments. Maptote is not responsible for any fees, taxes or duties. Contact your local customs office for more information.
When should I expect my order?
All of our standard orders are shipped via USPS First Class or Priority Mail from Brooklyn, NY. You can choose First Class mail if your shipment weighs 13 oz or less. Please note First Class mail can take up to 8 - 10 days and Priority Mail takes 1 - 3 days however these times do vary and are not guaranteed. We will do everything we can to ensure your package is delivered in a timely manner but Maptote is not responsible for any delays in shipping once an order leaves our office.
Orders usually go out in less than a week. If, for some reason, anything is out of stock then we will notify you and let you know the expected delivery date.
We also offer expedited shipping options via UPS which include next day, 2-day, and 3-day services. The prices of these will be determined by the weight and destination of your order. All orders must be made prior to 3 pm EST to be shipped that day, if they are made after 3 pm EST they will be shipped on the next business day. Please keep in mind when choosing shipping options that only business days are counted, not weekends or holidays.
I haven’t received my order yet. Where is it?
If you are in the US and it’s been over 15 business days since you placed your order, or if you are overseas and it’s been over 25 business days since you placed your order, please let us know by emailing us with your name and order number. We can try to help you locate your order but we also recommend reaching out to your local post office or delivery person for any information.
A note for international customers: Occasionally overseas shipments will take a longer time due to the delivery country’s customs. Each customs office is different and Maptote is not responsible for any fees or tariffs. Thanks for your patience!
What if I think my order was lost and stolen?
Maptote is not responsible for products stolen or lost in the mail. If you do have any issues or think your package might be lost/stolen, please email us at info@maptote.com within 15 days of the estimated receipt date and we will be happy to look into it for you. We handle these requests on a case by case basis.
Can I ship to a military (APO or other) address?
Of course. Enter the address in this format:

What if I accidentally provided the wrong shipping address or want to cancel my order?
If you provided us with an incorrect or insufficient address, please contact us immediately with the correct information. If your order has not yet shipped, we will correct it immediately. If your order has already been shipped via USPS, delivery must be attempted and then returned to Maptote before we can change the address or provide you with a refund. If your order has already been shipped via UPS, we can contact the carrier to reroute to the correct address. Please note that original shipping charges are non-refundable and additional charges will incur for reshipment. If you would like to cancel your order or in the case where a package is refused and shipped back to us, customers will be responsible for the original shipping charges if already shipped.
Return policy
What is your return policy?
As a small (but growing!) company we unfortunately do not accept returns or exchanges. That said, if for some reason a product we send to you is damaged please let us know and we will send a replacement with a posted envelope to return the damaged item. We must be notified within 5 days of delivery of the damaged item(s).
What if my item(s) arrived damaged or defective?
Please inspect your purchase as soon as it arrives and let us know immediately if there is damage or defect to your item(s). Damage claims on shipped items must be made within 5 days of package arrival. No claims can be made after 5 days. Email info@maptote.com for a return authorization on damaged items.
Ordering & Security
Do you accept credit cards?
We accept all major credit cards and PayPal. We use a secure SSL connection.
Do you charge sales tax?
We collect 8.875% New York sales tax on all orders shipped to addresses in New York State. Residents in other states are responsible for complying with local state tax laws.
Custom & Wholesale
What if I want to buy A BUNCH of Maptotes?
We do offer bulk discounts on orders over 30 items!Please contact hello@maptote.com for a quote on your bulk request.
Do you make custom maps for special events, such as weddings? Or can you customize your totes for my business?
Yes, we love working on custom designs! Please e-mail us at info@maptote.com with your specific request. As we design all our maps and graphics, we can create new locations as per your request. With that in mind, custom orders must be ordered in bulk. Also, please keep in mind, the more you purchase the better we can do with pricing!

Can you print one custom tote for me?
Sorry, but our minimum run for custom is typically 48 pieces per design. You can get more information about custom Maptote here!
