At Maptote we get to work with some really rad small businesses, and we're always extra excited when we get to collaborate with them. From the brainstorming session to bringing their custom designs to life we feel so fortunate to get to do this every day.
This year we decided to create a series of newsletter custom spotlight editions, and this is our first edition!
This time around you get to hear from our friends at Hitchcock Paper Co. a small stationery shop in Occoquan, VA. See below to learn more about Sarah, the founder of Hitchcock Paper Co., and her experience working with us on a custom collection.
Maptote: Hi Sarah! Please tell us a bit about your shop.
Sarah: Hitchcock Paper Co. is a small stationery shop in a tiny historic town just south of Washington, DC. We are obsessed with local artists, snarky greeting cards, and all the pens. We are women owned and run and we love stocking our shop with unique stationery you can't get in the big box stores. We're lucky to be in a town that is 100% small business, so the community and support is amazing in our little "main street"!
M: How did you find Maptote? Why did you choose us?
S: We've been fans for a while, but meeting the team during Shoppe Object last February sealed the deal for us. We loved all the different options and colors we could work with, to really fit our small town's vibe. Plus you can tell the quality is top notch and will last and that's really important to our customers these days!
M: Can you describe how the design process was for you?
S: The process was the perfect balance of collaboration and artistic direction. We were able to include things that were uniquely Occoquan, specific to what we love about this town. Jaime took our ideas and cohesively brought them to life in the final design. She was also very clear with production timing and helped keep us on track to get our products finished (earlier than excepted!) before a big event. We couldn't have been happier with how organized and detail oriented Maptote was!
Maptote: What's your favorite Maptote custom item from your collection?
Sarah: The Essentials Tote, hands down. I love a versatile bag and this one being crossbody or handheld is just perfection. I think the entire staff have them at this point!
